Huay Too Reservoir is a picturesque man made lake situated not far from Nong Nooch tropical gardens, just outside of Pattaya.  With a dam at one end the lake can be quite deep during rainy season and filled with an abundance of lotus, lillies and other pond vegetation during dry season when the waters are low enough for the plants to reach the surface.

While the reservoir can be fished from the dam at the north-western shore, to appreciate the true beauty of this lake, fishing by Kayak is highly recommended.  If you choose to explore the lake by Kayak, Kayaks can be launched by the dam in dry season when the water is low. During the rainy season when the water levels are higher it may be possible to launch from the other end of the reservoir by the train tracks.

While fishing Huay Too, I chose to target Snakehead with a topwater frog. The combination of plentiful cover and an extremely weedy bed made it difficult to fish any other way.  When the water levels are higher in the wet season, it may be possible to fish with other lures such as spinners and spoons.

Despite only having one solid take the whole morning (and subsequently losing the fish), the outstanding beauty of this reservoir is well worth a visit for any angling or kayaking enthusiasts.

Additionally, I sighted several good sized fish from my kayak, including Tilapia and what appeared to be some sort of Carp. Which leads me to believe that there are an abundance of fish in the reservoir, and that I just haven’t figured out how to catch them, yet!
